Yes, it looks more like a meteor or an asteroid than a space ship. Well, if you watch the movie ( It Came From Outer Space 1953 ) you will know they leave a whole lot to the imagination, including the color. We simply used a little of that artistic license people like to talk about.

BTW, did you know that Russell Johnson ( the professor from Gilligan's Island ) was the best actor in the movie. Joe Sawyer and Johnson are the first humans to have their bodies snatched.
